Stoke v Crystal Palace FA Cup Replay Prediction 15th January 2013

Stoke v Crystal Palace Betting Preview
There was little to choose between the two sides in the first meeting, with chances few and far between. Palace actually had just more possession and far more attempts on target than their Premier League opponents. But at the end of the day it was a frustrating afternoon for both and now they both need to go at it again. With Stoke having their good home form turned upside down by Chelsea in the league on Saturday, will this be a good time for the attack minded Palace to strike a blow?

Stoke v Crystal Palace Recommended Bet:
The Potters, despite a good start against Chelsea on the weekend, were overhauled 4-0 in a disappointing result. That was their first home defeat in the Premier League since back in February of last year. In the first match against Palace, Michael Owen got a rare start up front and disappointed in his renewed partnership with former England colleague Peter Crouch. The defeat against Chelsea has seen them win just one of their last six games in all competitions. As usual it is the lack of goals which plagues them and that could be their downfall in the FA Cup replay. The Potters have not scored now in their last three matches and a missed penalty on Saturday added to their striking misery. Still, the Potters are such a hard working side and usually organised and very difficult to break down, especially at the Britannia Stadium that they do go into the replay as heavy favourites. Interestingly, out of the last seven times that Palace have visited Stoke, the Potters have only taken one win, so there is a tough task ahead of them. This will also serve as a bit of a distraction now for Tony Pulis’s men after losing their last two Premier League matches in a row. May not see the full strength side out again with an eye to rediscovering league form. Would not expect a high tally of goals in the match though and if Stoke get over the line it could be by the narrowest of margins.
Crystal Palace suffered a defeat on the weekend in their charge towards the Premier League. The Championship side have lost just two of their last nine, but after some hot winning form from September through November, the wins have dried up for them, taking just two out of the last nine as well. They were the more enterprising, more assertive of the two sides when they met in their Third Round encounter and Palace have a pretty good record away at Stoke. The last time they played there was in the 2007/08 Championship, where they took a 2-1 win. They may have missed their chance of claiming a big Premier League scalp, failing to convert in the first meeting when Stoke were in a frustrating mood. Like Stoke, Palace have only won one of their last six matches in all competitions now and this should make the game at the Britannia really close. Underdogs rarely convert when they get a second bite of the cherry and the experience of Stoke could pay off at the end of the day. They will battle hard but with a lack of clean sheets on the Crystal Palace end recently, a Stoke 1-0 Correct Score bet for a price of 5/1 at online bookmaker Sportingbet may provide value.
